CALLING itself a “‘people-powered antivirus system for bills,” BillGuard isn’t a new app, but it has finally released a full North American compatible version for both Android and Apple. Using predictive algorithms to help alert you to any scams, fraud, hidden fees or billing errors that may pop on on your Visa or Mastercard, BillGuard helps you stay on top of what is happening with your credit cards. It will also alert you to any potential scams or dubious charges that other users have identified. As more users become part of the BillGuard community, the brains behind the system get even smarter.

U.S. users have been using the system since 2010, now Canadian and European consumers can get protection. By crowdsourcing financial irregularities, the system hopes to stay a step ahead of the scammers. While many credit card companies are getting better at helping customers avoid scams or overcharges, BillGuard is just another layer of protection that consumers may want to add on. While some cautious users may get queasy handing over their info to a third party, BillGuard uses bank-level security, encryption and other protection methods. Although BillGuard lets you set alerts on spending and do some budgeting, its real selling point is beefing up your security and keeping you up-to-date on your credit cards.

THE long-awaited and much anticipated electronic project from hip-hop mogul Diddy and underground tech-house producer Guy Gerber is finally seeing the light of day. Driven by an after-hours experience Diddy had on the magical island of Ibiza, nearly four years later, the debut album will finally see the light.

In a seeming rejection of the current big festival sound that characterizes the more commercial strains of electronic music of the moment, the Israeli-born producer takes an emotive approach to his work with Diddy, crafting something that is more detailed and nuanced than you would expect. While Diddy could have rolled out barrels full of cash to secure the talents of EDM superstars like Avicii or David Guetta to help propel him into this new world, he chose Gerber, someone who is skilled in bringing out the emotional side of dance music, to help him realize his vision.

It sounds like it was the right choice. It may not be a smash radio single or an instant club anthem, but it will erase any doubt that the 11 11 project is worth a further listen.
