Dear Mike: My grandfather recently gave me this old corkscrew. All he told me was that he got it from an elderly neighbour back in the 1950s.

Last year, we purchased a large collection of corkscrews that included one of these. It is a novelty corkscrew produced in Germany in the late 1800s. It is not rare, yet it’s very unique.
I see people asking very high prices for the same corkscrew on the internet. Actual selling prices range from $100 to $300.
I noticed yours has cracks in the handle. Your corkscrew in its condition would sell for $100.
