New live music venue in St. James
The 1928 Eatery & Pub (formerly Barstool Pub & Eatery, and before that, Fox & Hounds) in the St. James Hotel has been experimenting with live-music since August. It has now brought in the big guns in the form of Western Canadian Music Award-winner Romi Mayes as the venue’s booker to get the music pumping on a regular basis. For now, there’s no cover charge for the shows at 1928, and they take place every weekend, starting Friday, Nov. 29 with local singer-songwriter Paige Drobot, who, with her band, will be playing three sets starting at 9:30 p.m. Water and Wood will take the stage Saturday, Nov. 30. The venue’s Facebook page (@1928eatery) has a full list of upcoming performers through the end of January.
