Local winery/cidery opens tasting room
A new tasting room for locally made wine and cider appears to be just what the doctor ordered. In December, Shrugging Doctor Beverage Company (448B Brooklyn St.) opened the Doctor’s Lounge, a tap/tasting room that seats 10 and where curious imbibers can sample wine, cider, mead and sangria made on site in flights or by the glass. The Doctor’s Lounge is the first of its kind among the numerous craft beer tasting rooms and two distillery tasting rooms in Winnipeg. The doctor is in from 5-11 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.

Swing Thursdays at Times Change(d)
The Times Change(d) High & Lonesome Club is hosting Swing Thursdays each Thursday in February, featuring jazz/swing group Juvel. Juvel will perform their own short set before collaborating with a different artists each week as they play songs that fall within a specific theme. Things kick off on Feb. 6 with the Heartache and Reefer theme, and continue on with Jeremy Rusu and Quintin Bart joining in on a Django Reinhardt tribute (Feb. 13), Two Hip taking on some jazz greats (Feb. 20) and a swing-meets-country night featuring the Allsorts (Feb. 27). Doors are at 8 p.m. each week, and music starts at 9 p.m.
