Derby Day

On Manitoba Derby Day, Aug. 5, Assiniboia Downs, in conjunction with BDO Canada LLP Chartered Accountants and Advisors and CIBC, presented $500 scholarships to six university student recipients.

Receiving BDO/Assiniboia Downs scholarships were Jennifer Glendinning, Bobbi Yuzark and Dun Zhang. Shanelle Davis-Walters, Samantha Frost and Hailey Witt received CIBC/Assiniboia Downs Scholarships.

The Downs also celebrated creative headwear with the annual Derby Day hat contest.

Junior Achievement (JA) Manitoba hosted its annual Manitoba Business Hall of Fame induction ceremony, presented by Canadian Western Bank, on April 15 at the Metropolitan Entertainment Centre.

The JA Manitoba Business Hall of Fame celebrates the cumulative work of individuals who have dedicated their lives to enhancing the economic prosperity of Manitoba through their business endeavours. JA Manitoba is a non-profit organization that works to educate young Manitobans to experience free enterprise, understand business and economics, and develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills.
