Redha Kramdi didn’t think he belonged in the CFL.

When he was a rookie in 2021, he vividly remembers watching tape of two of the best running backs in the league at the time — Ka’Deem Carey and William Stanback — and doubting whether he belonged on the same field as them.

“I told myself I’d never play in the CFL. The gap between U Sports and professional football is pretty huge,” said Kramdi, who was chosen in the second round, 16th overall, in the 2021 CFL Draft by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers out of the University of Montreal.

“I was watching them and was like, ‘This is too fast for me. People are too strong, too physically gifted. And the communication is on a level I’ll never attain in my life.’”

Disgraced former law dean arrested, facing extradition to Canada: report

Jonathan Black-Branch, the disgraced former dean of law at the University of Manitoba, has been arrested in Europe and is awaiting extradition to Canada on fraud charges, according to a media report.

Black-Branch, who failed to defend himself in a lawsuit filed by the U of M and his disbarment proceedings, was ordered in May 2025 to repay more than $682,000 in misspent expense funds.

Winnipeg police confirmed his arrest and pending extradition, CTV Winnipeg reported Tuesday.

Black-Branch left the university in 2020 amid allegations he had misspent public dollars and schemed to evade oversight while running Robson Hall from 2016 to 2020.

RRC Polytech among schools selected to train RCAF aircraft technicians

Red River College Polytechnic will become one of the first civilian schools to train Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft technicians.

The first cohort is expected to begin aircraft maintenance engineer training in fall 2027. Students will attend the post-secondary’s Stevenson campus in Winnipeg.

“There’s a lot of opportunity for us to grow,” Fred Meier, RRC Polytech’s president, said as he and University of Manitoba president Michael Benarroch addressed business executives at a Manitoba Chambers of Commerce event Tuesday morning in Winnipeg.

They highlighted the local post-secondaries’ increasing work with the Canadian Armed Forces and broader defence sector.

Bombers backup Brown takes reps at practice as Collaros recovers from head injury

Let’s cut to the chase: Zach Collaros is dealing with a head injury and did not participate in Monday’s practice.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers returned to work Monday for the first time since beating the Saskatchewan Roughriders 19-6 in the Banjo Bowl — a game their starting quarterback left early after his head hit the turf while attempting to force a defender out of bounds following an interception.

Given Collaros’ well-documented injury history, and the fact that he’s sidelined to start the week despite the club coming off a bye, it’s unlikely he’ll be under centre Friday when the Bombers (7-6) host the Toronto Argonauts (8-6).

“Always, more so as a friend just concerned for his health,” said right guard Patrick Neufeld on his concern level for Collaros.
