VANCOUVER – Police in Vancouver are investigating allegations that people were being recorded in a theatre changing room without their knowledge.

Vancouver police say a 33-year-old male employee with the Arts Club Theatre Company was arrested in August after someone reported that multiple people had been “surreptitiously recorded” inside the changing room at the Stanley Theatre used by cast members.

The man has since been released under conditions to not be in contact with alleged victims or anyone else with the theatre company, although police say no charges have been laid as the investigation continues.

Police say all alleged victims in the case have been identified.

Arts Club Theatre Company executive director Peter Cathie White says in a statement that the accused is “not actively working” while the investigation is taking place.

The statement says the allegations, if true, are “deeply troubling and run counter to everything that we stand for,” but it declined further comment during the active investigation by police.
