SEL8NNE, a Finnish documentary about hockey legend Teemu Selanne, gets its Canadian première Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 6-7 at the Park Theatre. The film screens twice each night at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

The screenings come days before the Anaheim Ducks retire his jersey in a ceremony in Anaheim on Jan. 11.

Selanne played four memorable seasons in Winnipeg, from 1992 to 1996, setting the NHL record for goals by a rookie in a season with 76 in the 1992-93 campaign.

The subtitled film by director J.P. Silii has been lauded by Selanne himself, who says it had “to be honest and right, otherwise it’s not worth it,” Selanne told the Finnish website mtv3.fi last year. “We can see things in the movie that you wouldn’t see otherwise.”

Tickets are $13 and are available online at www.parktheatrecafe.com or at the door.
