1111That turnout alone was more than all the free beach screenings at the five-day event last year. Indoor attendance edged up to 3,200, but the big growth happened on the sand, where 5,200 people showed up for the three beach screenings. The total would have been much higher if two of the Rogers Cinema Under the Stars presentations hadn’t been cancelled, owing to strong winds that prevented the screen from being raised Friday or Saturday night.
The 8,400 attendance mark represented a 75 per cent increase over 2010.
The winner of the $10,000 Rogers Pitch was Quinn Greene. Winnipeg filmmaker Shelagh Carter’s One Night won the $1,000 prize for Best Short Film.
