WINNIPEG – Bon Jovi is hoping Winnipeg fans will join them in the circle.

The New Jersey rock band will play Canad Inns Stadium July 17, 2010 as part of their forthcoming The Circle World Tour. Ticket information has not yet been announced.

The band announced the tour during a press conference Thursday in front of New Jersey’s New Meadowlands Stadium, where they also performed six songs.

Bon Jovi will tour for most of 2010 and 2011 playing 135 shows in 30 countries.

“Bon Jovi is a band that continues to reestablish themselves at the top of the rock music game. They’re going to play a number of major stadiums and we’re thrilled that Winnipeg and Canad Inns Stadium has now hit that list,” said Kevin Donnelly, MTS Centre senior vice president and general manager, who is working in a partnership with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to bring concerts to the stadium, including this past June’s Rock on the Range multi-band event and AC/DC’s Aug. 22 show.

Bon Jovi last played Winnipeg in 2007 as part of their Lost Highway Tour in support of their country album of the same name, selling out the MTS Centre in minutes.

“It was an over-the-top success, and until Metallica, it was our highest-attended show ever,” Donnelly said, adding both shows attracted more than 16,000 people, with Metallica selling more because of general admission on the floor.

Bon Jovi’s new album, The Circle, will be released Nov. 10.

Eagles’ Jeremiah Trotter Jr. gets ejected in London 21 years after his father was tossed from a game

The Associated Press 2 minute read Updated: Yesterday at 4:00 PM CDT

LONDON (AP) — Philadelphia linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr.'s ejection from Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London came 21 years after his father was also tossed from an NFL game.

Bryan Thomas Jr. of the Jaguars also was ejected after a scrum at midfield at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium that followed the opening kickoff.

Trotter’s father, Jeremiah Trotter, was tossed in 2005 with Philadelphia after a pre-game scuffle in a meeting with Atlanta.

Jacksonville rookie Josh Cameron returned the kickoff 90 yards for a would-be touchdown, but it was called back because of offsetting penalties that included a hold by Branson Combs of the Jaguars.

Piece of Winnipeg’s magic history disappears

Kelly-Anne Riess 5 minute read Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026

A piece of Winnipeg’s magic history has vanished, and internationally renowned escape artist Dean Gunnarson is offering a $500 reward to anyone who can make it reappear.

The plaque marked the birthplace of what has become the world’s largest organization of professional and amateur magicians, the International Brotherhood of Magicians, which was founded in Winnipeg more than a century ago.

Gunnarson said fellow magician and local magic historian Bruce Thompson discovered the disappearance Tuesday while on his way to work.

Thompson returned to inspect the site and found what appeared to be evidence it had been forcibly removed.

Bombers ride Collaros’s arm to win over Stamps

Taylor Allen 6 minute read Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026

Zach Collaros must’ve found the fountain of youth during his most recent absence.

Nobody has feared the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ passing attack all season, and yet, their veteran pivot aired it out early and often on Saturday night in a game they needed to win.

Led by Collaros and go-to target Dorian Singer, the Bombers prevailed 33-28 over the Calgary Stampeders in front of a sold-out crowd at Princess Auto Stadium to heavily increase their odds of making the playoffs.

“That’s vintage Eight-Ball right there. You love to see it,” said receiver Nic Demski. “Especially the opportunity that we had and him coming back this week, it was just a picture-perfect story.”

Towing company hands stolen car back, but not to owner

By Matthew Frank 4 minute read Friday, Oct. 9, 2026

A Manitoba man says he is dumbfounded after his car was stolen, impounded by a Winnipeg towing company and given back — to someone that wasn’t him.

Cody Lamb lives in the western Manitoba community of Douglas, about 18 kilometres east of Brandon, but spends weeks away from home working on oil rigs in Alberta.

The 24-year-old says on Sept. 11, while away for work, he heard from his girlfriend who told him his car wasn’t in their driveway. Lamb reported the car stolen to Brandon RCMP the same day.

After filing the report, he heard from Steinbach RCMP on Oct. 1 that his car was recovered that day in the community of Mitchell, roughly five km west of Steinbach.

Puerto Vallarta boards up as Hurricane Simon hits Category 4 strength

The Associated Press 3 minute read Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico (AP) — Simon has strengthened into a powerful Category 4 hurricane as it barrels toward Mexico’s coast.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Saturday that Simon’s maximum sustained winds increased to 150 mph (240 kph). A storm of that strength or greater is considered a major hurricane.

The center said it expected Simon “to be near or just inland” of Mexico's west-central coast on Sunday. The hurricane could bring as much as 10 to 20 inches (25-50 cm) of rain over parts of southwestern Mexico, with some areas in the states of Michoacan, Colima and Jalisco receiving up to 30 inches (76 centimeters).

“This rainfall will produce life-threatening flooding and mudslides, especially in areas of steep terrain,” the center warned in a bulletin that also urged residents to take immediate action to prepare as tropical-storm conditions were expected to arrive Saturday afternoon.
