A new radio station has officially joined the FM dial in Winnipeg.

Jewel 101 FM, located at 100.7 (formerly The Breeze), operates with an adult contemporary variety format featuring soft pop hits from the 1970s to today, according to a press release.

The format is aimed at the city’s rapidly growing 35-plus demographic.

“The station possesses the largest music library in Winnipeg, with over 1,800 songs,” general manager Mike Fabian said in the release. “No station in Winnipeg can offer listeners a wider variety of music.”

The station’s playlist will include artists such as Phil Collins, Heart, Air Supply, the Bee Gees, Sade, Lionel Richie, Cher, John Mayer, Diana Krall, Barry Manilow and the Dixie Chicks, according to the station’s website.

The Jewel Radio Network has six other stations in eastern Canada. The Winnipeg affiliate is operated by Evanov Communications, which also operates Energy 106 FM and CKJS 810 AM.
