Last week Blue Rodeo entertained thousands of their faithful Winnipeg fans at the MTS Centre, now the Canadian roots-rock legends are providing another musical gift to their fans — this time via the Internet. Specifically, the Free Press website.
A new film, directed by Juno Award winner Christopher Mills, mashes up two Blue Rodeo songs, Mattawa and New Morning Sun, from their latest album In Our Nature.
“When asked to do a video mashup of two Blue Rodeo songs, (Mills) came back with an 18-minute opus — part narrative, part abstract and all beautiful to look at,” Blue Rodeo frontman Jim Cuddy said in a release.
“The video rewards multiple viewings. A truly wonderful piece of work.”
The live screening begins at 11 a.m. today at winnipegfreepress.com. If you miss the live screening, a player with a YouTube video of the film will appear in its place as soon as it’s available.
