Hey there, time traveller!

Fresh off the road after completing his immensely successful Road Trip tour with Paul Brandt, Canadian country star Dean Brody is gearing up for his kickoff performance at the Grey Cup in Winnipeg this weekend.
Brody and Brandt achieved the title of the largest co-headlining country tour in Canadian history, logging more than 7,000 kilometres over 22 cities in just 30 days. Even though Brody, 40, is just getting settled in back at home in Blandford, N.S., he is thrilled to make the trip to Winnipeg for the occasion.
“It’s a dream come true to play one of the biggest parties that we throw in this country,” says Brody. “It’s gonna be a blast.”
Brody, a multiple Canadian Country Music Award and Juno Award winner, revealed though he hasn’t been “as fervent a football fan” as he used to be, his childhood ambition was to play in the CFL.
“When I was a kid, it was my dream to be a punter — my one goal in life was to be a punter in the CFL,” he says with a laugh. “I just wasn’t quite big enough, but I got really good at kicking the spiral, about a 40-yard average, but my hang time wasn’t what it needed to be to be in the pros.”
As a pragmatic youth, he chose the position of punter — rather than the typical boyhood dream role of quarterback — because the nearest football program was 3 1/2 hours away and he needed a position he could practise remotely.
Obviously, he didn’t make it to the pros, but he’s pleased he has found a way make it to the Grey Cup.
“To be playing at the Grey Cup — albeit music instead of football, it’s OK — I’ll take it!”
If you’re headed to the game, you can catch Brody as the official performer for the Sirius XM Kickoff show at Investor’s Group Field.
And, if you’re wondering, he’s rooting for the Eskies in Sunday’s big match.
