Winnipeg singer Maria Aragon has joined a list of Winnipeg entertainers and dignitaries who will be part of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra’s A Prairie Christmas Celebration on Dec. 6.
The 15-year-old Aragon shot to Internet fame in 2011 when a video of her rendition of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way became a viral sensation on YouTube, earning more than 58 million views. Aragon eventually appeared onstage with the superstar at a concert in Toronto.
Among other performers scheduled will be Juno-nominated jazz singer Erin Propp and guitarist Larry Roy; Winnipeg soprano Lara Secord-Haid, WSO violinist Christopher Anstey, Pembina Trails Voice of Family Choirs and WSO’s Sistema Winnipeg youth musical group. Radio personality Ace Burpee will host the event and Mayor Brian Bowman will appear as a special guest narrator.
Tickets for the 2 p.m. concert, which range in price from $25 to $63, are available online at wso.ca, Ticketmaster or by phone at 1-855-985-2787.
