Hey there, time traveller!

Country music fans will get a chance tonight to check out the best that Manitoba has to offer.
The 2017 Manitoba Country Awards, hosted by Leanne Cater of Winnipeg’s QX104 FM, will be presented at Winnipeg’s Metropolitan Entertainment Centre, and to go along with the hardware handed out, no less than 10 Manitoba artists will be on stage performing the songs that got them recognized by the Manitoba Country Music Association (MCMA).
Among those nominated includes Jade Turner, the singer from Misipawistik Cree Nation near Grand Rapids, who picked up eight nominations: female artist of the year, song of the year, single of the year and video of the year for Worth, album of the year for North Country, emerging artist, fans’ choice and a nod for the NCI-FM Aboriginal Country Music Award.
Scheduled to perform are award nominees David James, Desiree Dorion, Doc Walker, Jason Kirkness, Kayla Luky, Kendra Kay, Past the Perimeter, Petric, Quinton Blair and Ryan Keown.
The MCMA will also hand out its Impact Award to Winnipeg producer/musician Murray Pulver and will induct Craig Fotheringham, the keyboardist and songwriter for the Foster Martin Band and the C-Weed Band who died of pancreatic cancer on Jan. 8, into its hall of fame.
Tickets are $25 plus fees and are available at Ticketmaster. For more info, visit manitobacma.com.
