Hey there, time traveller!

Winnipeg’s frozen river restaurant is ready to serve.
Raw: Almond, an international marvel of imagination and fine dining set in the middle of a Canadian prairie winter, will open for dinner later this evening.
In its third year of existence, the restaurant is set atop the ice on the Assiniboine River at The Forks and remains a popular attraction for locals and visitors.
The pop-up restaurant is open from tonight until Feb. 11.
Nightly fare will be prepared by a variety of chefs around the city. Organizers are also bringing in some guest chefs to prepare meals.
This year, the restaurant is designed by OS31, an architecture design firm out of Sheffield, England. New features to the space this time around include an insulated kitchen, an increased seating capacity and a patio/deck area.
Unfortunately, tickets for the dinners have been sold out for weeks. If you don’t have a ticket and wish to take in the experience, you’re still in luck: organizers will set up a cocktail tasting bar nightly. Tickets for these tastings will go on sale each morning via the Raw: Almond website.
On top of that, brunches will be served over the weekends. Get there early, as those sittings are only available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
