Air Canada’s inflight EnRoute Magazine released the long list of national contenders for its annual best new restaurant award, and Winnipeg’s Máquè was on it.
The 30-seat, Asian-inspired spot in a former nail salon at Stafford Street and Dorchester Avenue is the third Winnipeg restaurant opened by chef Scott Bagshaw, and the second of which to draw attention from the magazine; last year, his River Heights eatery Enoteca was ranked No. 9 in the country. Bagshaw also owns Deseo Bistro on Osborne Street.
Máquè received a four-star review from the Free Press in March.
The 35 restaurants on EnRoute‘s list were chosen based on recommendations from food experts and culinary professionals nation-wide, and will be narrowed down to the Top 10 by the magazine’s food critic in November.
