If your house were on fire, heaven forbid, what’s the one item contained within that you would try to take with you? (People, pets and computers not included.)

My camera and the new ring flash I got for it.

What’s the one clothing/fashion item you can’t live without?

John Woods/Winnipeg Free Press

My overpriced, less-than-comfortable Chuck Taylors.

What’s your favourite knick-knack and why?

My remote control, ’cause my wife said so.

What’s the oldest thing you own?

A 14-year-old T-shirt promoting a film festival from when we lived in Hermosa Beach. I can’t throw it out. Other than our daughter, it’s the only proof I have left that we lived there.

Describe your most beloved piece of furniture.

My motion-perfect adjustable bed. It’s like one of those mechanical beds you see in hospitals, guaranteed for 25 years. I will (hopefully) die in it.

Is there an edible item we’ll always find in your pantry or fridge?

Coffee.
