Dear Mike,
I have had this small Coke sign for many years. It measures 41/2 inches (11.25 centimetres) square. When translated it says, “rub matches here.” It is in almost perfect condition.
Can you please tell me how much it would sell for?

Dear Bob,
Your little French Coca-Cola sign is known as a match striker.
Years ago you would have struck your wooden matches on the black portion of the sign.
This sign was made in the late 1930s and was placed in pool rooms, bars or other establishments where smoking was the norm. The sign has a porcelain finish over the metal.
It is hard to find these without chips in the paint. Your sign would sell for $400 to $450.
