Hey there, time traveller!

When the CLA took the ‘Baby Benz’ spot in the Mercedes family, it left plenty of room for the C-Class to grow up. For 2015, it did just that.
The latest C-Class has grown in every possible direction, with an 80 millimetre increase in length and 40 millimetre increase in width lending to more cabin space. But it’s still a ‘Baby Benz’ in many regards, especially seeing as it’s styled like a smaller version of a certain other model in the Mercedes-Benz lineup known as the S-Class.
You may have heard of it; the latest S-Class is one of the most technologically advanced sedans on the market, and the 2015 C-Class certainly reflects its big brother. Mercedes is offering the C with a whole host of active safety systems, including Attention Assist, Adaptive Brake Assist, Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Distronic Plus with Steering Assist … basically, it’ll assist you in doing a lot of things. It will let you know if you’re driving in the wrong direction, thanks to an assist known as Traffic Sign Assist with Wrong Way Alert.
While the 2015 C-Class will be offered with a variety of diesel powertrains, North America will make do with two new engines at first.
The base C300 will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, rated at 235 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Replacing the C350 and its outgoing 300-horsepower V6 is the C400. That particular model will pony up 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque from its turbocharged 3.0-litre V6.
Both C-Class models will have a seven-speed automatic transmission send power to all four wheels. In addition, the C-Class boasts three optional suspension setups, including a segment-first air suspension.
On the outside, the 2015 C-Class is definitely styled more aggressively than the outgoing model. The C-Class can be had with two LED headlight configurations in addition to standard halogen beams, while the long hood and short rear deck definitely echo the S-Class.
Inside, materials have been thoroughly revised and updated, with Mercedes-Benz aiming for more of a luxurious and elegant feel.
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class had its debut last month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet.
