New general sales manager at Capital Ford

Over the past few months, Capital Ford Lincoln general manager Mitch Gallant has put a new management team in place with the goal of boosting sales volumes and putting the Polo Park area dealership into the top ranks of Manitoba Ford dealers.

The final piece of that transformation was the appointment of Tanya Dash early last month as general sales manager. Dash began her career in the auto industry about 15 years ago as the receptionist at the now defunct Holiday Kia. Since that time Dash has focused her attention on education, which culminated with a degree from Georgian College’s Automotive Business program. She was most recently a controller at Capital Ford.

“I believe that in my new role, I can offer vision and strong leadership to our team,” she says. “I have picked up some ideas over the years that I look forward to putting into action.”

Assisting Dash and Gallant are two relatively new floor managers. Chad Yuile has 24 years experience in auto sales. Originally from Toronto, he came to Winnipeg five years ago, while Keith Place was an award-winning sales rep for almost 20 years before going into management two years ago.

We Sell Cars has solid leader

John Madeiros has been in auto sales, primarily in management positions, for nearly 40 years. Over that time he says he has helped put a lot of people into their dream cars. Last fall, Madeiros brought his experience to We Sell Cars, a pre-owned auto store on Pembina Highway that is part of the Donvito Automotive Group.

“The Donvito family and I go back many years,” Madeiros says. “When Paul (Donvito) approached me to take charge at We Sell Cars, I was happy to help.”

The basis of Madeiros’ sales philosophy is treating people the way he would like to be treated — a philosophy that he applies equally to customers and employees.

The biggest difference that he has made at We Sell Cars, he says, has been to upgrade the quality of the product. “We have a lot of good late-model cars, most of which still have a lot of factory warranty left on them,” he says.

Roving Birchwood sales rep

Joel Catania has been working for the Birchwood Auto Group for more than 20 years and for much of that time, he has been in management. Most recently, he was general sales manager at the Honda store on Regent.

Last October, Catania left his position and began combining the positions of sales rep and sales manager. That means that, while he is based at Birchwood Keystone Ford on Regent Avenue he has actually become a roving sales rep.

“I am able to access any brand or model from any one of our Birchwood stores and also write up my own deals,” he says. “The position has been tailor-made for me. In essence, I have become a one-stop auto sales shop.”
