SOOKE – Police on Vancouver Island say they’re investigating the shooting of two dogs over the weekend.

RCMP in Sooke, west of Victoria, say one of the dogs died and the other was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment of serious injuries on Sunday.

The Mounties say they received a report of the shooting along Farmer Drive outside Sooke and CCTV footage revealed shots were heard at 11:46 a.m.

They say the video also showed one of the dogs collapsing on a neighbouring driveway.

Staff Sgt. Greg Willcocks says the circumstances “seem very concerning” and investigators are working to identify any suspects.

Willcocks says in a statement that police are asking anyone who may have seen something in that area or has video footage from the area to contact them.
