LONDON – Canadian international defender Shelina Zadorsky has undergone ankle surgery, according to West Ham.
The London club said the 33-year-old from Kitchener, Ont., sustained the injury in training ahead of a 2-1 loss at Manchester United in Women’s Super League play on Dec. 7. West Ham did not provide a timeline for her return.
Zadorsky has made 117 appearances for Canada, including 95 starts. The veteran has been an important part of the Canadian backline in recent months with injuries to centre backs Kadeisha Buchanan and Vanessa Gilles.
Zadorsky is one of eight women up for Canada Soccer Player of the Year.
Zadorsky joined the West Ham Women on a permanent basis in August on a one-year deal, arriving on a free transfer following the expiration of her contract at Tottenham. The Canadian had spent six months on loan to the Hammers from Spurs last season.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published Dec. 15, 2025.
