REGINA – The Saskatchewan government says the province’s chief medical health officer is the second person to receive threatening messages through email.
On Monday, Regina police said a man was charged with uttering threats from a fake account to two people.
A government spokesman said one of the people is Premier Scott Moe.
On Tuesday, the government confirmed the second person is Dr. Saqib Shahab, the province’s chief medical health officer.
Regina police confirm the threats mention the COVID-19 pandemic and public health rules.
The premier issued a statement Tuesday saying no one should be subjected to threats, especially Dr. Shahab, who has worked tirelessly to serve the people of the province.
Tobechi Okwuonu of Regina, who is 38, is charged with uttering threats, has been released on conditions, and is to appear in provincial court Dec. 1.
