On Aug. 26, we celebrated 75 years of service at Stuartburn Gospel Chapel, where I spent my teen years. I was with an elderly couple; we’d just left St. Pierre when we heard a dragging noise.

Mr. Blatz stepped out and announced, “It’s a flat tire!”

We had no sooner stopped than a red sports car made a U-turn and came up behind us. He changed the tire in no time, which would have taken a long time if Mr. Blatz had to do it.

We said God sent an angel, and Mrs. Blatz told the young fellow, “You’re a Godsend!”

It’s good to see there are still kind people in the world.

Nocturnal nudist may exult in the exposure

Maureen Scurfield 4 minute read Yesterday at 2:00 AM CDT

DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: I can’t stand any more of this sweaty weather and neither can my boyfriend. Lately he has been sleeping nude on the balcony of our highrise apartment from sunset to sun up, and then he’s back inside in front of a fan.

Yesterday, he got an unsigned lust note in our mailbox from somebody in a neighbouring building who has been spying on him with her binoculars and knows who he is.

I would like to respond with a sign out on the balcony telling her what she can do with her binoculars. What is your advice?

— Not Laughing, Winnipeg
