Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 25/05/2021 (1789 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
Name: Smokey Joe
Sex: Male (neutered)
Approximate age: 10 years
Breed: Domestic Long Hair
Size: Large
Time in care: Three years
Smokey Joe came to Craig Street Cats as a semi-feral adult whose caregiver was going into a nursing home. It’s fair to say that he was not happy with the arrangement.
In the three years since his arrival, Joe has come to appreciate the finer things in life — a warm bed, regular meals and a gentle touch.
He often seeks out attention, and will do well in a quiet home with an experienced cat lover. Older children would be fine, as would a kitty companion — Joe likes his roommates in our Purple Room.
Experience with spicy cats is preferred, as Joe’s past shows when he is stressed or over-stimulated, he may nip.
Those interested in meeting Smokey Joe can call Craig Street Cats at 204-421-1919 to make an appointment. Visits to the shelter at 16-1421 St. James St. are an hour long and visitors are required to wear a mask. The shelter has suspended home checks during the coronavirus pandemic and adoptions are limited to people with an existing relationship with a veterinary clinic.
The adoption fee for adult cats is $100 and includes spay and neutering, distemper and upper respiratory vaccinations, tattoo, microchip and deworming, as well as six weeks of pet insurance.
