World-renowned Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zizek will be the University of Winnipeg’s next Axworthy distinguished lecturer on April 18.

Zizek, who is known for his critical analysis of popular culture, capitalism and political correctness, has written more than 50 books, including the groundbreaking The Sublime Object of Ideology. The professor and psychoanalyst has been called “the most dangerous philosopher in the West.”

The Axworthy distinguished lecture series on social justice and the public good invites top-tier researchers, social commentators and political leaders to deliver lectures that are open to the public.

Zizek’s lecture will be held in U of W’s Riddell Hall at 7 p.m. Tickets are free, but must be reserved at wfp.to/szizek. Reserved VIP seating is available for a contribution or $25. Attendance to a meet-and-greet session following the lecture (reserved seating included) is also available for a contribution of $100.
