NEEPAWA – Fort Rouge’s Kristy Jenion is two wins away from her first provincial women’s curling title.
Jenion defeated clubmate Karen Porritt 7-4 in the final round-robin game for both teams here at the Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts this morning.
The win means Jenion finishes the round-robin at a perfect 7-0 and will now play in the 1 vs 1 page playoff game scheduled for 7 p.m. this evening. A win tonight would vault Jenion straight into Sunday afternoon’s provincial final, while a loss would force her to take the longer route through Sunday morning’s semi-final.
The loss to Jenion was the first of the week for Porritt, who finishes the round-robin at 6-1. Even with the loss, Porritt still qualifies for the 2 vs 2 page playoff game, also scheduled for this evening. All other teams in the Red Group have been eliminated.
The final draw for the eight-team Black Group is on the ice here at 12:45 p.m..
