Construction on the city’s first aboriginal personal care home is set to start this summer.
Today the province announced it will partner with eight Manitoba First Nations to build Winnipeg’s first personal care home that respects traditional approaches to aging. The 80-bed facility will be located in the city’s south end, adjacent to Southeast Collegiate, a school for First Nations youth in Fort Garry.
Southeast Resource Development Council, which represents eight First Nations in southern Manitoba, will contribute funds and land for the project.
