A firefighter with the Stony Mountain Fire Department was taken to Stonewall Hospital in stable condition this morning after being injured while battling a blaze early today that destroyed a factory near Stony Mountain.
The fire at Al-Fab, a structural building components factory, appears to have started at around 5 a.m., and firefighters from five different fire departments attended.
Stonewall RCMP said no one is believed to have been in the building at the time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
All-Fab has factories in five other Prairie towns or cities, including Winnipeg and Brandon. The 39-year-old firm manufactures roof and floor trusses, laminated beams, structural laminated post systems, joists, laminated veneer lumber, insulated panels, conventional wall panels, pallets and crates.
The Stony Mountain plant employs about 25 people.
