WINNIPEG–About 50 cheering fans with pom-poms and a media horde greeted the Manitoba Moose at the airport this morning as the American Hockey League players, coaches and staff returned from Hershey, Pa.
The Moose staved off elimination with a 3-2 victory over the Hershey Bears in Hershey on Tuesday night in the fifth game of the best-of-seven AHL championship series for the Calder Cup.
The win forced the series to return to Winnipeg for Game 6 which is set for Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the MTS Centre (680 CJOB radio) and is already sold out with 15,003 tickets purchased.
If necessary, Game 7 will be played in Winnipeg on Sunday night. Ticket sales for that game have been brisk with 13,500 already sold.
