The Winnipeg Blue Bombers took to the practice field without the league’s defensive player of the week this morning.

Linebacker Siddeeq Shabazz and wide receiver Adarius Bowman were not in full equipment for today’s practice after having been suited up for this week’s other run-throughs.

Shabazz was named the CFL’s defensive player of the week on Tuesday after intercepting a 36-yard Henry Burris pass for a touchdown in the fourth quarter of Friday’s 42-30 win over Calgary. Shabazz was acquired from Edmonton for Kai Ellis in February.

Bowman has eight catches for 81 yards so far this season. He was acquired from the Saskatchewan Roughriders in April.

Coach Mike Kelly said that both Shabazz and Bowman will play on Saturday. They were just dealing with “a little inflammation. No big deal.”
