North fires 67 to lead Manitoba PGA

SELKIRK — Host pro Dean North carded a four-under-par 67 today and forged ahead by six shots heading into the final round of the Titleist-Footjoy Manitoba PGA Championships at Selkirk Golf and Country Club.

North made six birdies and only two bogeys and at four-under 138 for 36 holes, takes a commanding lead into Wednesday’s final round, when he’ll try to land a second Manitoba PGA title.

Tied for second are former champ Dave McMillan of Transcona (71-73), Hecla’s Scott Parker (71-73) and Glendale assistant Andrew Steep (73-71).

Pine Ridge’s Shane Dick moved up to fifth spot after a 71 today. He’s at four-over 146.

In the senior division, which began today, Larters’ Peter Ewert matched par today at 71 and takes a four-stroke lead over Blumberg’s Ben Smirnov to Wednesday’s final 18 holes.
