WINNIPEG –A 39-year-old man has died after an accident involving an autobin in Winnipeg’s inner city.

A police spokesman said it appeared the man was struck by an autobin near Balmoral Street and Cumberland Avenue at about 4:45 a.m. Tuesday.

A truck was emptying the bin when the incident occurred. The victim was in the area of the autobin with another adult man, said the spokesman.

The 39-year-old man was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A spokesman for Workplace Safety and Health said an inspector attended the incident. The spokesman said the incident is a police matter.
