Heading into the last day of the 122nd Manitoba Curling Association Bonspiel, only David Hamblin of Morris has secured one of the five available Safeway Provincial championship berths. The remainder will be decided later tonight.

Hamblin, and his crew of Ross Derksen, Ryan Thomson and Mark Georges advanced to the Sports Manitoba main event final Sunday with a 6-4 win over Derek Dowsett of Stonewall.

Hamblin and Derksen will be looking for their second MCA Bonspiel championship (they won it in 2004), when they play David Kraichy of Pembina, who earned his berth through the zone playoffs, at 7 p.m. Four more berths will be decided tonight, through the Sports Manitoba, Free Press and Safeway-Lucerne events.

All finals begin at 7 p.m., tonight at three locations.

Finals in the Sports Manitoba, Manitoba Hydro, thecurler.com, Great West Life and 8-Ender events will be played at the Heather Curling Club.

The Free Press, Chas.Fidler and Son, LaFarge Construction ands Manitoba Pork Council events will be at the Fort Rouge Curling Club.

The Thistle will be home to the finals in the Safeway Lucerne, Bituminex Paving Ltd., Monsanto Canada ands Canada’s Web Shop events.
