STEINBACH – Defending champion Jeff Stoughton edged Mike McEwen 9-8 in an extra end in the final of the Safeway men’s curling championship for his eighth provincial title.
Stoughton had the hammer in the 11th end and made a last-rock draw-bump on the button for the win.
In a rematch of last year’s final, Stoughton beat Kerry Burtnyk 6-4 a morning semifinal to reach the final.
McEwen beat Stoughton 7-5 on Saturday night to advance to the championship.
