Pupils ID male teacher in infamous lap dance

STUDENTS gathering outside Churchill High School Thursday afternoon have identified Adeil Ahmed as the male teacher who was part of a lap-dance performance caught on video at Churchill High School last week,

They described Ahmed as a fun and popular math and science teacher who only started working at the school this term. One student said Ahmed graduated from university only last year.

The original video of the lap dance has garnered international attention and has more than half a million views on YouTube.

A second, much clearer video was posted on YouTube Thursday, showing the lap dance from a different angle.

It shows Ahmed straddling teacher Chrystie Fitchner while she is seated in a chair. Fitchner throws her hands back while Ahmed at first grinds against her and then pretends to perform oral sex. Students said Fitchner "paid" him with fake money.

Meanwhile, parents of students at Churchill are left wondering why they aren’t being informed about the situation, which continues to make headlines.

Lindsay Nikkel, the father of a Churchill student who was not at the pep rally, said he was upset that the first time both he and his daughter heard about the video was through reading about it in the newspaper.

"No one really sent home a note or anything," he said.

Students outside the school on Thursday confirmed no letter had been sent home for parents.

Winnipeg School Division school board chairwoman Jackie Sneesby said the fate of the two teachers would eventually come before the school board for a decision by trustees, but said there’s no indication that the administration’s investigation will conclude before Monday evening’s regular board meeting.

"So far, it’s been handled within the administration," she said.

Sneesby said that staff have not told trustees anything about the two teachers so far. She was unaware how long Fitchner has been at Churchill or where she’s worked before, and could not confirm that the male teacher is on a short-term contract.

"We really can’t (discuss them) right now. Nobody’s told me where she’s taught before, and I haven’t asked the question," Sneesby said. "The less I know, the better for the process."

While discipline of staff and students is debated behind closed doors, any action that trustees take must be approved in open session.

The video clip was shot at a school spirit week event last Wednesday in the gymnasium. More than 100 grades 9 to 12 students were present during the dance competition.
