WINNIPEG — Premier Greg Selinger says a new home for the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers is necessary because Canad Inns Stadium needs $52 million in repairs over the next several years.

He made the comment during a flood briefing at Ste. Agathe this afternoon.

It’s the first time the province has revealed the size of the old stadium’s repair bill.

Selinger refused to comment further on a new proposal, revealed by the Free Press Saturday, that would see a $100-million stadium built, a scaled-down version of the $135 million one originally planned.

He said stadium proponents are still working on a new deal, and more details will be made available at a later date.
