WINNIPEG – Manitobans will be able to book their summer campsites starting Monday.

At 7:30 a.m. on April 5, the Manitoba’s Parks Reservation Service will start taking campsite bookings.

Entry to provincial parks is free once again this year and no park vehicle passes are required, the province said in a news release.

In 2009, a record number of 62,044 reservations were booked and nearly 66 per cent of total reservations were made online. Group use, cabin and yurt reservations have been steady since opening Feb. 1, with bookings up 40 per cent so far, the province said.

During the first five weeks of the booking period, a number of campgrounds offer select sites that require a seven-night minimum reservation, which includes a Sunday to Sunday stay, including:

  • Birds Hill,
  • Camp Morton,
  • Grand Beach,
  • Stephenfield,
  • Big Whiteshell,
  • Caddy Lake,
  • Falcon Beach,
  • Falcon Lakeshore,
  • Hecla/Gull Harbour,
  • Kiche Manitou,
  • Nutimik,
  • Otter Falls,
  • St. Malo,
  • West Hawk,
  • Bakers Narrows,
  • Campers Cove,
  • Paint Lake and
  • Asessippi.
