Police are looking for a little grey pickup truck after a man was shot late Thursday afternoon near Seddons Corner.
The 44-year-old man was taken to hospital in Beausejour before being transferred to Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre in stable condition.
RCMP at Lac du Bonnet were dispatched to a report of a shooting just before 5 p.m. outside a home at Seddons Corner in the R.M. of Reynolds near the junction of Highways 214 and 44.
The quiet community 80 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg was swarming with police looking for a suspect, said a local restaurant owner.
“There are helicopters, police cars, and the power’s out,” Britton Schuhmann at Lazy Tuesday’s Restaurant said Thursday evening. Police were searching in the bush nearby, he said.
It appeared the police were focusing on the gravel pit popular with off-roaders and ATVs in the summer, said Schuhmann. He wasn’t sure why the power was out in the area, and he hadn’t heard any shots fired earlier in the evening or seen the grey pickup truck.
The RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the small grey pickup truck. If anyone sees a vehicle matching this description, they are urged not to approach the vehicle but to contact the RCMP or their local police.
RCMP with the help of the RCMP serious crime unit and the Winnipeg forensic identification section continue to investigate.
