MORRIS – Manitoba’s Terry McNamee will play Ontario’s Chris Gardner Friday evening in a playoff tiebreaker game at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Morris.
Gardner advanced to tonight’s game against Manitoba (7 p.m., Morris Curling Club) with a 9-3 victory this afternoon over New Brunswick’s Charlie Sullivan in another tiebreaker game.
The winner of tonight’s Manitoba-Ontario game will advance to the semi-final Saturday morning against Nova Scotia’s Paul Flemming. The winner of that game will in turn advance to Saturday afternoon’s final against Prince Edward Island’s Robert Campbell.
Ontario was clinging to a 3-2 lead over New Brunswick when they scored five in the seventh end to break the game open.
Manitoba defeated Ontario 6-2 when the two teams faced each other on Draw 3 last Sunday. The two teams – and New Brunswick – finished the round-robin with identical 7-4 records, necessitating today’s tiebreaker games to determine who would claim the third and final playoff spot.
