EDMONTON – CFL commissioner Mark Cohon said in his league address this morning he expects details on the funding package for a new stadium in Winnipeg to be announced very soon.

“I don’t want to steal any thunder from any announcement made by the Premier (Greg Selinger) in short order following the Grey Cup,” said Cohon. “I’m confident the project is moving forward and I’m confident the specifics of that in terms of an economic model in terms of what it means for the team and what it means for the community will all be disclosed in the next week or so.”

There have been rumblings in Winnipeg all week that a deal to move the stadium project forward is all but complete, however, the Blue Bombers have asked the province and city to hold back on an announcement.
