Two-time world curling champion Colleen Jones is reportedly in a Halifax hospital, where she is battling bacterial meningitis.
According to the Halifax Chronicle-Herald, the 50-year-old entered the hospital on Saturday, but her recovery is on track as a result of a quick diagnosis.
“Everything looks really good, they are really happy with my progress,” Jones told the Chronicle-Herald.
The six-time Canadian champion, who told the newspaper she doesn’t expect to curl again this season, said she felt a violent headache and stiff neck.
“I wasn’t terrified at first because I didn’t know it was meningitis,” she said. “I was terrified when I heard the word meningitis because I knew what it was and I knew it could be bad if not caught in time.”
