Schroeder returns to Moose line-up

The Manitoba Moose will welcome forward Jordan Schroeder back into the line-up Saturday night when the herd hosts the San Antonio Rampage, but fellow forward Aaron Volpatti will be sitting out.

Volpatti, recently reassigned to the Moose from the parent Vancouver Canucks, is nursing an upper body injury suffered with the big club.

Meanwhile, the Moose will be attempting to end a three-game losing skid that has seen the North division leaders score just one goal in each game, including Friday night’s 2-1 loss to the Rampage.

“I wasn’t happy with our game,” Noel said, after the team’s morning skate Saturday. “I didn’t think we played that great.”

So what will it take to get out of this slump?

“Well, my first objective is for us to play well,” the head coach said. “That’s what I’m looking for. The problem is we’re all over the map.

“I’m just looking for more A-games. I think the score will look after itself.”

For example, after Friday night’s loss, Noel singled out the lack of production from his offensive skill players, specifically Russian sniper and Moose leading goal-scorer (16) Sergei Shirokov, who has but one assist in eight games.

Prior to Saturday night’s rematch, the Moose will be honouring the most accomplished player in franchise history – three Stanley Cups, 22 professional seasons – when Mike Keane’s No. 12 will be retired.
