Deer Lodge Curling Club’s Sean Grassie defeated Bob Sigurdson of the Granite 8-3 to win the 2011 Chicken Chef Mixed Provincial Championship at the Swan River Curling Club.

The Grassie rink, made up of third Tracey Lavery, second Scott McCamis and lead Calleen Neufeld, will now represent Manitoba in the 2011 Canadian Mixed Curling Championships at the Sudbury Curling Club.

“It’s definitely great coming out on the winning side. I was very happy for the team. We got on a roll this week and kept going,” said Grassie. “Calleen got every end set up so well for us, and it made our jobs easier. Everyone played well. Once we got a lead, we hit well. Scott really peeled well the whole week, and that made a difference.”

Team Grassie earned their way to the final by defeating Terry MacNamee (Hamiota Curling Club) 5-2 in the 1 vs. 1 page playoff while Sigurdson beat MacNamee 6-5 in the semifinal.
