Eight Milner Ridge Correctional Centre inmates have been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the slaying of a fellow inmate earlier this week.
Tyler St. Paul, 21, who was from the Lake Manitoba First Nation, died on May 16 at about 9:30 a.m. at the jail.
An autopsy has concluded St. Paul died of blunt force trauma.
The eight men, who will appear in court in Winnipeg today, are: Emile Hugh Williams, 22, Eriberto Alexander Soldat, 18, Eric Edward Plante, 20, Joey Richard Delaronde, 25, Daniel Christopher Dumas, 19, Nathan Florian Allard, 19, Brent Edward Houle, 18, and a 17-year-old youth.
RCMP said all eight men are reported to have gang affiliations.
RCMP are continuing to investigate the slaying.
