Winnipeg Blue Bombers all-star slotback Terrence Edwards is expected to be in the starting offense at Canad Inns Friday night when the Bombers take on the Toronto Argonauts.

Edwards hurt his ribs during a 24-16 Bombers win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last Friday at Ivor Wynne Stadium and has been nursing the injury all week and not taking reps with the first team during practice.

But Edwards worked with the starting offense during a walk-through Thursday morning and afterward proclaimed himself fit and ready to play on Friday.

“I’m well enough to play, and go out there and play and not hurt the team. I’m going to try to make enough plays to help this team win,” Edwards told reporters Thursday morning.

Bombers head coach Paul LaPolice was coy at his pre-game news conference when told Edwards says he’s ready to play. “Does he? Yeah?.” LaPolice smiled. “We’ll declare our roster an hour before (game time).”

LaPolice also wouldn’t say definitively whether wide receiver Greg Carr (hamstring) will suit up Friday night, but all available indications are that he will not.

Import Clarence Denmark took reps with the first team during the walk-through Thursday morning and is expected to get the start in place of Carr, while non-import wide receiver Aaron Hargreaves will definitively take the place of Kito Poblah, the rookie Bombers wide receiver who suffered a knee injury last week in Hamilton and is on the nine-game injured reserve list.
