The thriller Faces in the Crowd, which shot in Winnipeg last summer, is apparently going to hit screens in October, going by the recently released trailer for the film.
No specifics have been released about the movie, however. The trailer does show glimpses of the Winnipeg shoot, including scenes of Milla Jovovich’s schoolteacher character Anna being attacked on the Provencher Bridge, where she suffers a traumatic head injury resulting in prosopagnosia, or “face blindness.”
The condition is described by the film’s French-born writer-director Julien Magnat as being similar to dyslexia, except it is facial features, not words, that become unreadable.
The City of Winnipeg’s film office closed traffic on the bridge for five nights so the movie could shoot there.
“The Provencher Bridge has never been used in a movie,” Magnat told the Free Press a year ago. “And the first day I saw that, I was like: Can we have that?”
Faces in the Crowd also stars Julian McMahon and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead).
Winnipeg production company Frantic Films co-produced the film with Minds Eye Entertainment, Radar Films and Forecast Pictures.
