WINNIPEG – A Progressive Conservative goverment would create a $20 million fund to pump more money into community facilities around the province.

PC Leader Hugh McFadyen, in his latest campaign announcement, said today that the Manitoba Community Investment Fund would be an increase of $5 million per year over current NDP funding, and ultimately provide $25 million in new funding over a five-year period.

He said funding will be open to applications from community organizations across Manitoba.

“We know that the weak approach of the NDP is not working,” he said outside a community centre in south Winnipeg.

He also said the proposed fund forms part of his law-and-order platform as a way to prevent crime.

“We know that providing alternatives to young people will ultimately pay off,” he said.
