The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have now lost four of their last five games after a 32-26 defeat at the hands of the Montreal Alouettes at Canad Inns Stadium Friday night.

After Justin Palardy put the home side on the board with a 36-yard field goal, the Alouettes marched the ball down the field for a touchdown, coming on a two-yard run by fullback Dahrran Diedrick.

Montreal kicker Sean Whyte scored a 41-yard single (on a missed field goal) and the visitors added to their lead with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Calvillo to receiver Jamel Richardson with 43 seconds remaining in the half.

The Alouettes opened the third quarter scoring with a 12-yard touchdown reception by Kerry Watkins. Palardy hit a 35-yard field goal at the 6:33 mark to cut into the deficit, but Winnipeg wasn’t making up any ground with field goals.

The Als found the end zone again when Calvillo hit S.J. Green for a three-yard touchdown. The Bombers finally scored a major when James Green blocked a Whyte punt and rookie Henoc Muamba ran it back 52 yards for the score with 16 seconds left in the third quarter.

The Bombers added a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Alex Brink hit Clarence Denmark in the end zone to cap a five play drive and then running back Chris Garrett cashed in on a 32-yard blast up the middle.

Coming into the contest, the Bombers (8-5) held a two-point lead over the Alouettes (8-5) in the CFL’s East division. The clubs meet one more time this season.

The Bombers next see action Friday (Oct. 7), when they visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
